0x15 Etherpad, Dreams and Cyborg policemen
Late again, dammit!
Got an Etherpad up and running on a test-server. Then I crashed it with an webrtc plugin.
Got it back up again by clearing the database and removing the plugin. Then I closed it again.
Installed it on a more permanent server this time and made a subdomain and a redirect to simplify access. IP plus port plus path is a bit excessive.
Have not done any SSL for it yet.
I finished watching Inception.
It is essentially a really good Heist Movie, I mostly find those to be enjoyable, but Inception manages to top most others by extending the climax in an unprecedented way, layering a heist within a heist within a heist within a heist within a heist, with a side order of a heist to salvage the heist! This might sound cheap but the movie does a good job of setting up the pins, explaining what the stakes are and the risks. It’s good!
I watched Robocop. The original from 1987. It’s cheesy, it’s dumb, and it is glorious!
It is also gory and gruesome at places. To an extent that seems excessive, such as when a person is shot 30-50 times, screaming in agony all the way and is still alive afterwards.
Also. How does one survive a clean bullet wound to the head?
Besides that, it is a bad-ass action movie full of cliches and the good old movie feel that is sadly lacking nowadays.
I was also surprised by how much of a cyberpunk story it is, despite being made in a mostly analog era. It brings up tropes like questioning the worth of a man, the rights of someone who is deceased, the power of corporations.
Started watching Robocop 2, more on that in the next post I’d bet. But I have never wanted to see a kid get shot so intensely since The Good Son.
